Daily Devotions: Proverbs

Fear of the Lord, Proverbs 1:7
¤ What is the “fear of the Lord”? (Not scared, but in awe—“Wow!”)
¤ How do you begin knowledge? (To consider the Lord awesome)
¤ What is a fool? (Look it up in the dictionary)
¤ What are two things fools don’t like? (Wisdom, instruction)

Keeping a Clean Heart, Proverbs 4:23
¤ What do you think this means? “Garbage in, garbage out”
¤ What do you want your heart to be like? Name some qualities.
¤ Why would it be important to pay attention to what you see and hear? To pay attention to your heart? (It affects how your heart which affects how you act later.)
¤ What comes from a dirty heart? (sin) Can Jesus clean it? (Yes)
Comment: Just as the house needs cleaned on a regular basis, so our hearts also need cleaned from the world’s influence. (This is different from salvation. Rather it is a regular confession before a holy God of the mistakes we make in life.) We need to protect our hearts just as we protect our stuff.

Favor & Trouble, Proverbs 11:27
¤ Would you rather have favor or trouble?
¤ What should you do to get favor? (Look for good)
¤ What should you to do get trouble? (Look for trouble)
¤ Can you tell a time when you got favor or trouble?
¤ Prayer for the kids, Luke 2:52
